RITA NENE EHIGIE-ATAMENWAN (MRS) LL.M

Rita is a versatile and dynamic lawyer who joined the firm as an Associate Counsel in January, 2013, and later in 2016 took leave of absence to join Support for Mankind Development Initiative (An NGO) as a Program Officer for its activities in Southern Nigeria. Rita returned back to the firm in September, 2020 and joined as a Partner in charge of Corporate Commercial. She had her early legal exposure from the Law firm of Monima Karibi-Whyte & Co in Port Harcourt soon after her call to the Nigerian Bar in 2010. She previously served as Pupil State Counsel at the Ministry of Justice Owerri, Imo State during her youth service year in 2010 – 2011. She has also accrued experience in civil society and development work.

Rita trained at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt between 2003 and 2008 where she graduated with Honours. She later proceeded to the Nigeria Law School and upon successful completion of her studies with Honors, she was called to the Nigerian Bar to practice law as Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court in November, 2010. Rita also acquired a Master’s degree (LL. M) at her alma mater, magna cum laude, between 2016 – 2018 and returned back to the firm with  specialized concept  to develop the practice area of the firm.  

She is a wonderful team worker with good interactive ability and a quick learner that is always ready to take on challenges.

  • Wages of Ignorance: A Collection of Reproductive Health Plays as NYAP Internship Project (2002)

She loves reading and watching movies. She is a Member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Federation of Women Lawyers, Port Harcourt branches. She is a Christian and she is happily married with children.
